Overhead we find the brilliant star Arcturus in the constellation of Boötes as the sunset. The stars of
spring are slowly disappearing towards the western horizon; Leo is diving towards the horizon. Below
Boötes we can find Spica in Virgo. Low towards the south is the bright red star Antares the brightest
star in Scorpius. Rising in the east are the stars of the Summer Triangle; Vega, Deneb and Altair.
The orange star Arcturus blazes high overhead, while Spica is below in the south.
Castor and Pollux are in the west and are sinking fast towards the horizon, closely
followed by Regulus and the stars of Leo (the Lion). Ursa Major stands high towards the north.
The stars of the Summer Triangle, which is being led by the blue-white star Vega in the constellation Lyra (the Harp).
Sirius, the jewel of the winter sky, glitters magnificently in the southern sky through January.
Sirius is just one of three stars that make up the Winter Triangle, which is completed by Betelgeuse a red star
in the constellation of Orion and the white star Procyon. Capella appears right over head at around 10pm this month.
